I am honored to have been selected President of the Irondale Youth Hockey Association. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you over the next two years. We have a wonderful group of athletes, coaches, and parents. The time is now to grasp the opportunities we have before us and make this organization grow and succeed.
I would like to thank the outgoing board members Tom Lucarelli, Jean Aukee, Bob Gabler and Jeanne Falconer. Your service to our organization has been great. I would also like to thank the current board for their continued commitment to IYHA. Lastly, I would like to thank everyone else that makes up our association from players, parents, and volunteers. We need EVERYONE to make this association successful.
The theme I used during the campaign was EXPECT MORE AND DO MORE. I think we can increase our expectations of everyone within our association. With increased expectations we all will need to pitch in and DO MORE. If we want to see improvement in the association there is plenty of opportunities for EVERY family to pitch in and make it successful.
Our goal is to create the best hockey association that we can. To be the best that we can ON the ice, there are opportunities for everyone OFF the ice to participate. We need to create a strong support structure for our players to compete at their highest possible level, we need people helping with coaching, fundraising, securing sponsorships, volunteering, working parades, at schools, or whatever your skills can provide. In these times we need to use all of our resources wisely. Think about were you fit within the association, and DO MORE. Let’s leave no stones unturned for our players.
Finally, over the summer get the kids outside playing, rollerblading, skating when possible, shooting and stick handling and they will be able to have more success on the ice come the fall.
With EVERYONE'S help we can accomplish our goals as an association.
Feel free to contact us with where you feel you can fit in and help out or with your concerns.
Sincerely,
Kevin Bourassa
President IYHA
